exceed fifteen years the imprisonment
with or without hard labour shall not
exceed three years, and in any case in
which the term of banishment did not
exceed five years the imprisonment with
or without hard labour shall not exceed
two years; and provided also that the imprisonment with or without hard
labour awarded by a Hagistrate under
this section shall not exceed one year".
(7). By the addition at the end thereof of the
following new section:-
"ll (a). All persons lawfully banished
from the Straits Settlements, or
from any territory which for the time being may be under the personal rule of
the Sultan of Johore or from any
Native State in the Malay Peninsula
which is for the time being under the
Protection of the British Government,
and not being natural born or natural-
-ized subjects of His Majesty are
hereby prohibited from residing or
being in the Colony during the term of
such banishment.
(b). No person shall be deemed to
have committed a breach of the pro-
-visions of this section if during the
term of such banishment he has resided
or been in the Colony on one occasion only and for a period not exceeding
twenty-four hours.
(c). For the purpose of any pro- -secution for breach of the provisions
of this section an order of banishment
